Pre-School Lead Teacher
The Preschool program at Sacred Heart School is looking for energetic and creative lead teachers who can provide child-centered care and high-quality education and who have an understanding of (DAP) developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood. This is a full-day year program. Sacred Heart School is a culturally diverse Catholic faith-based school dedicated to providing an innovative, superior quality education to all scholars from the preschool program – 8th grade.
Candidate’s qualifications and experience:
- An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is required •
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Bilingual skills: Fluent English/Spanish preferred • Minimum of one year’s experience working in an early childhood classroom.
- EEC Lead Teacher certification or willing to obtain
- Must have basic proficiency skills with laptop computers.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 40lbs and assume low-level posture to be at child level for appropriate visual and physical contact.
- Able to engage in physical activities indoors and outdoors.
Lead Teacher Responsibilities:
- Cooperate and work in close collaboration with administrative staff, with the other school personnel, and with parents to accomplish effectively the goals set forth by the school for the preschool program.
- Fulfill contractual obligations and observe all other school and Archdiocese policies.
- Work cooperatively under the leadership of the principal, assistant principal, and pre-school program director to develop instructional programs within the curriculum guidelines of the Archdiocese and the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum.
- Implement weekly lessons that provide stimulating, developmentally appropriate learning objectives that are both led by scholars and teachers and are aligned with the MA Learning Standards. Guided by the OWL and Building Block curriculum
- Incorporates the CSEFEL Pyramid Model of social-emotional support and intervention in the classroom and throughout the pre-school program.
- Observe on a regular basis in order to assess all stages of development in order to scaffold skills and build on the interest of the scholar for more individualized classroom instruction.
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize various assessment tools and strategies to accurately assess individual student achievement.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times. A criminal and fingerprint background check will be conducted on all final candidates.
After-School Group Leader
Position Summary:
After-‐School Group leaders at Sacred Heart will be responsible for creating a welcoming and inviting environment for all employees and scholars present in the after-school program. Group leaders are responsible for implementing daily activities, supervising all participants, and maintaining great redirection protocol with scholars in the program. Group leaders will also be expected to take on added work-related jobs given to them by the director.
List of Qualifications for After-‐School Employees
- Must be at least 18 Years of Age
- Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent value
- At least 2 years of experience working with school-age children
- Must be available Monday-‐Friday from 11am-‐6pm
- Must be able to create and maintain lesson plans/academic activities
- Must be able to effectively communicate to children in a positive goal orientated approach
- Must be able to work as a positive member of a large team
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with guardians
- Must be able to supervise and support children with in their care daily
